Introduction | Shinyu Onsen KURIKOMASO - A truly Japanese experience to guests from overseas

Shinyu Onsen Hot Spring, which is located in the middle of Mt. Kurikoma,was opened about 300 years ago, in 1720. The hot spring has been famous for its eff ects and loved by mountain climbers since then.

Mt. Kurikoma belongs to the Nasu volcanic zone located in the center of the Ohu Mountains.　Volcanic activity of Mt.Kurikoma began about 50 million years ago and the crater has formed the current Mt. Kurikoma. Volcanic activities have been recorded recently in 1774 and 1944. Depending on the season, you can see the color contrast created by the nature, with green leaves at the foot of the mountain, the red autumn leaves in the middle, and the white snow at its peak.

World Heritage "Hiraizumi"
Hiraizumi is noted for t he Historic Monuments and Sites of Hiraizumi, which achieved UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2011. In Hiraizumi, there are a lot of various temples and gardens that were created based on Buddhism.
